Continuing Professional Development for Licensed Home and Pool Builders

NSW Government through the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has introduced Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for home and swimming pool builders, who need to collect 100 points over 3 years with a minimum of 25 points per year. This must occur before the building licence can be renewed.

"Building on Your Foundations" is a TAFE PLUS/OFT course earning 25 CPD points. The course is for licensed builders and swimming pool builders.

TAFE PLUS Course 6499 - Building on Your Foundations

• Gain 25 CPD points
• Approved by the NSW Office of Fair Trading
• 4 hours
• $198 (GST Inc).

This course covers:

• Defining the role of Office of Fair Trading in relation to Home Building Act
• Basic understanding of the Home Building Act
• Identifying documentation that forms the contract documents
• Completion of a pro forma contract in accordance with the clauses and conditions specified.
• Specifying the requirements for obtaining home warranty insurance
• Documenting a variation in compliance with the conditions of contract
• Specifying the key sections of the building Code of Australia.

Entry Requirements:

• Building or Swimming Pool Building Licence
• Photo ID
• Command of the English language
• Pre-reading of course material
